Y9 - Term 3 Drama

Fake Friendship Video

The video below shows the problems that can stem from friendships such as betrayal and being two faced.

Friends Selfie

The image above is the selfie taken by Zaid. As you can see, he couldn't take the picture properly and had his finger over the lens. This is to show that his character is quite stupid and can't really think properly. His personality is also shown in the way he smiles as its quite a huge smile which looks childish. Next to him is Evrard, who is posing in quite a crazy way which is to demonstrate his personality as being very silly and dumb. As you can see, the only two people posing in quite a funny way are Evrard and Zaid and together they have the nickname 'Dumb' and 'Dumber',  Zaid even has short term memory which will be shown in further scenes. Behind them is Rania, who has her hands to her forehead to demonstrate how stressed she is which shows that she's a perfectionist and has to do well at everything and gets stressed easily due to how tirelessly she works. I am glaring at Evrard due to his stupid pose and also because in the scene before, he was annoying me. I have anger issues and this shows in the picture as I'm looking very annoyed and tired of Evrard. Zaid and Evrard have the closest bond as their personalities are quite similar and they get along well due to having a similar mindset. Even though it doesn't show in the picture, the whole group has a close bond despite everyone having completely different personalities and getting annoyed by each at times, which is a completely normal and common thing in friendships.

Hot Seating

The person interviewed was Aunt Cassandra, who is my character, Alex's aunt.

1. If you could only save one person in your household, who would it be?

I think it would be Grandpa (played by Rathin) because he is the kindest to me and doesn't make fun of me as much as my niece, Alex does. He also respects my beliefs in auras and the mythical and often believes in what I say too, unlike the rest of my family who ridicule me as they don't have enough magic, you get me? He's also very quiet and reserved which I respect and is unlike the other loud members in the family, he isn't overly violent like my nephew, Billy and isn't dramatic like my niece, Alex. Don't even get me started on Rick, who treats me like a child and is constantly bossing me around.

2. Who do you most dislike in your family?

I think it would be Billy. No, actually scratch that, it's my niece, Alex because she acts like I'm stupid, when I'm just trying to do what's best for her. She's turning her back on the gods, its absolutely horrible, I can't watch that happen. She always ridicules me and even threw away my birthday present to her which was a heavenly rock from the holy river! She's going to end up suffering for her constant disrespect to my true beliefs. She never takes me seriously and doesn't treat me as her elder which I am. I'm the one with the authority, not her.

3. How Did You Move Into the House?

Since I'm the aunt, it is quite peculiar that I am living here since these people are not my immediate family. However, I was adopted when I was eleven because nobody wanted me due to my weird teeth, then Rick and his parents took me in but I soon realized that it was a mistake, since when Rick started his own family with his deceased wife, his children and his wife did not believe in auras and the mythical, which is clear the true path to life but now I am unable to leave as I have no money and am unable to support myself, therefore I must rely on this family who all constantly ridicule me. Rick also constantly bosses me around and makes me do all the chores, saying that I have to since I don't pay rent! How disrespectful!

Family Picture

In the picture above, it shows how the family isn't very happy or excited to take the picture. The birthday girl, which is the daughter Alex, looks sullen and depressed instead of being happy, which is usually how a person feels on their birthday. Aunt Cassandra is making a weird symbol with her hand as she loves anything to do with the mythical. The father looks tired and exhausted which is unlike how a father should feel on his daughter's birthday. The brother looks annoyed to be there and looks like he really just wants to go home. Meanwhile, the grandfather is looking very tired.

Character Introduction

1) Who is each person in your group? (What role are they going to play)

Each person in our group is a completely different, unique character. I play the role of the depressed, emo daughter who has a very pessimistic mindset. Riccardo plays the role of the father who has severe problems after his wife passed away when the daughter was 5. He doesn't act like a normal father at all and acts very weird the majority of the time. Sophia plays the role of Aunt Cassandra, who believes in the mythical and auras and often seems very crazy and loopy. Rathin plays the role of the maternal grandfather, who still lives with them years after his daughter's passing. Zaid plays the role of the brother with severe anger issues and often has tendencies to punch something, this means he get angry very easily and releases his anger through violence.

2) What is each character like? (Describe something about their personality or likes and dislikes)

Each character is very distinct and none are similar to each other at all and the characters definitely do not act like a typical family.  The daughter has severe depression problems and dresses and acts like an emo as all her wardrobe consists of is black. She is often quite dramatic and acts like she has the biggest problems in the world which led to her acting like an emo. The father is quite different to his old self and acts very loopy after the death of his wife when his daughter was five, he often stumbles and talks in a riotous state. Next, is Aunt Cassandra, who sees herself as psychic, she deeply believes in the mythical and often tries to do aura readings, who the rest of the family just ignores. She often tries to predict the future and points out things or describes things that don't even exist. Rathin's character is the maternal grandfather and he still lives with the family despite the passing of his daughter more than a decade ago as he has no other place to live. Next, is the brother of the family, played by Zaid, he has severe anger issues and often showcases his anger uses violence which always leads him into trouble, to the point where he needs to be put on medication.

3) Describe the relationships between the characters in your group that came out of doing the still images exercise we did in class.

The relationship between all the characters is quite strained, they're not the typical cliche 'happy family' and often seem like they all hate each other. For example, the daughter finds Aunt Cassandra crazy and out of her mind due to her avid belief in the mythical and prediction of the future and auras. Therefore, they don't get along as she cannot deal with her aunt's weirdness. She often argues with her brother and makes fun of him for his anger issues which leads to him getting very angry, as if the medication wasn't even in use. She often argues with her father as she hates how he always has to make a scene and can't just act like a normal father. The only one she seems to tolerate is her grandfather and even then she complains about the fact that he's still living with them after more than a decade of his daughter's passing.
